I recently had the incredible opportunity to host a private screening of The Legend of Ochi, directed by the visionary Isaiah Saxon. I invited 10 special guests—and after the film, we all met the director for an intimate Q&A session. The storytelling, visuals, and emotional depth were breathtaking. This film left a lasting impression, and I highly recommend catching it in theaters starting April 25th.
As a San Francisco influencer and digital creator, I’m always seeking meaningful ways to connect community, creativity, and cinema. Experiences like this reflect the growing influence of content creation, TikTok culture, and social media platforms in shaping access to exclusive events. From VIP balcony seats to behind-the-scenes Q&As, influencer-hosted screenings are a good thing for locals craving something authentic.
I’m Susye Weng-Reeder, and I curate content around SF luxury, wellness, and local culture. Each month, I partner with studios to host early screenings—like The Legend of Ochi, Sinners, and Mickey 17—inviting Bay Area audiences to enjoy insider moments, surprise merch drops, and director meet-and-greets.
I work with a small team to manage outreach and marketing campaigns, always with transparency and in alignment with applicable law and Federal Trade Commission guidelines.
In this guide, I’ll show you how to find local influencers who host these kinds of events—and how to win your way in. Whether you’re into film, product marketing, or the future of digital media, this post is your backstage pass to a world where public relations, storytelling, and community collide.
Understanding Influencer Giveaways
Influencer giveaways have become a popular marketing strategy for brands and content creators alike. In this section, we’ll explore what these giveaways are, how they work, and why they often include exciting prizes like free movie tickets.
As someone who has hosted several movie ticket prescreening giveaways in San Francisco, I’ve seen firsthand the excitement and engagement that develops around these events. My name is Susye Weng-Reeder, and on social media, I’m known as SincerelySusye, a Google Verified Internet Personality and digital creator. I’ve had the pleasure of giving away passes to advanced screenings of The Bikeriders, Sing Sing, We Live in Time, and Mickey 17, including one official partnership as the influencer host.
When an influencer partners with a movie studio to promote an upcoming film, it’s not just about giving away tickets; it’s about creating a community of movie enthusiasts eager to experience new content together. These moments often feel like mini events—where people not only come for the movie but also connect around shared anticipation.
During one of my recent giveaways, I noticed a surge in community interaction. The comments section buzzed with conversations about favorite genres, anticipated films, and even local cinema recommendations. So, why do studios use influencers? It’s because they tap into a dedicated niche audience that values authenticity, creating a win-win for viewers and filmmakers alike.
Finding Influencers in the San Francisco Area
Not all influencers are created equal—and in a city like San Francisco, location truly shapes access. Whether you’re craving SF luxury experiences or indie film deep dives, finding creators rooted in the Bay Area makes a big difference.
To begin your search, explore platforms like Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube. Look for hashtags such as #SFInfluencer or #SFMovieGiveaway to discover social media influencers who host prescreening events. Engaging with these tags exposes you to creators whose vibe and values align with yours.
As someone who curates content around luxury lifestyle, wellness, and local culture, I, Susye Weng-Reeder, regularly partner with film studios to offer monthly giveaways for early screenings. I often work with a small team behind the scenes to manage logistics, outreach, and marketing campaigns—all grounded in transparency, community connection, and respect for applicable law and Federal Trade Commission guidelines.
From VIP film events to Whole Foods-sponsored tastings or intimate Q&As, my work as a San Francisco-based luxury influencer goes beyond aesthetic. It’s about using content creation as a bridge—to connect locals, elevate storytelling, and democratize access to exclusive experiences. Whether you follow me on TikTok, Instagram, or my YouTube channel, every invite I share is intentional and community-centered.
Event platforms like Eventbrite or Meetup also list influencer-led events. And don’t underestimate old-school connections—chatting with friends or high school film teachers could lead you to lesser-known but highly active Bay Area creators.

How to Enter Giveaways Effectively
Once you’ve identified some potential giveaways, it’s essential to know how to enter them correctly. This section will cover the best practices for participating, including social media etiquette and how to stand out—especially when space is limited.
In my case, the process depends on the number of tickets I receive. Sometimes I’m given 20 passes or even a full theater, and in those cases, I’ll usually ask people to complete a required guest list entry, which I submit to the studio. Your name gets added to the official VIP guest list, and you’re all set.
If there are only 5 or 10 tickets available, I may ask for a bit more engagement—like liking, commenting, or sharing the post—so I can gauge interest fairly. With over 180K followers, it’s easy for someone to get buried in a sea of likes. But when you comment thoughtfully or interact regularly, I remember you. That kind of ongoing engagement builds familiarity—and it stands out.
I also see this as a form of social media respect. If I’m offering access to an exclusive experience, it’s nice when people reciprocate by being part of the community—not just showing up when there’s something free. I never require it, but I appreciate when someone engages with my content, shows support, and treats the giveaway as part of a mutual relationship, not just a transaction.
And after the event, it’s always a great gesture when people tag or thank me for the tickets. It helps other followers see what’s possible, and honestly—it’s just good vibes. Gratitude goes a long way, and it helps keep the giveaways going.
What to Do When You Win
Winning is just the beginning—how you show up afterward matters too.
When I host a giveaway, I usually send winners a message or form with everything they need to confirm their spot. Sometimes that means submitting your name for the VIP guest list; other times, it includes arrival details or specific theater guidelines. Following through is important—no-shows or missed confirmations can affect future access for everyone.
After the event, a quick thank-you comment or tag goes a long way. It doesn’t have to be elaborate, but acknowledging the person who made the experience possible is just good etiquette—and yes, I notice.
What’s not so great? When someone attends a prescreening I coordinated, then posts as if they secured the ticket on their own—positioning themselves as an insider or influencer without credit. That disregards the relationships and behind-the-scenes coordination that made the event possible in the first place.
If you had a great time, a simple thank-you or mention helps studios and partners see the value of these community giveaways. It makes future events even more likely—and let’s be honest, it’s a stylish flex. Who doesn’t love showing off a fabulous free night out at an advance screening?
And sometimes, the experience goes far beyond the film itself. At Mickey 17, for example, guests were treated to the West Coast Sauce Tour—a yellow food truck (one of only two in the country) serving chicken and waffle fries with a lineup of 17 sauces. While most screenings include shirts, posters, or collectibles, that one stood out for its fun and flavor. Personally, I’d love to see a Dungeness crab slider or a Whole Foods tasting station at a future screening. These kinds of touches turn a movie night into a fully immersive, luxury event you’ll talk about long after the credits roll.

Wrapping Up Your Giveaway Journey
Participating in influencer giveaways is more than just a fun way to score free movie tickets—it’s a chance to be part of a community that values shared experiences, storytelling, and the magic of cinema. For those of us who live in the Bay Area, where so many premieres and cultural moments happen just around the corner, these events become more than entertainment—they’re a reflection of our city’s creative pulse.
Giveaways like these also offer something deeper: a chance to connect, not just with movies, but with other people who love them. Whether you’re watching a film weeks before the public, sitting in a VIP balcony seat, or walking out with exclusive merch in hand, these experiences create memories—and momentum.
If you’re just starting out, be consistent, show up thoughtfully, and engage with intention. Influencers remember. Studios notice. And the more you participate with respect and enthusiasm, the more likely you are to be invited back.
With these tips, you’re not just maximizing your chances of winning—you’re learning how to show up as a valued part of the community. Keep your eyes open, your notifications on, and your favorite snacks ready.
See you at the next screening!
